Update Nov3, 8:00 EET
The forecast has not progressed to the direction we hoped. It seems rather likely that week46 event can not be sailed as planned. We recommend sailors to suspend travel arrangements that involve significant costs. However, we will not call for final cancellation as of yet. Let’s leave room for a miracle. Next check-point during Saturday.
Please note that we don’t have spare dates for ranking regattas = ranking regatta can and will not be re-scheduled (with an exception: Finnish Nationals do have spare dates). Instead of re-scheduling we have possibility to arrange 2 floating extra regattas per season. If week46 is cancelled we look forward re-scheduling Johnny Köhler Cup (which is not a ranking regatta) to be sailed in conjunction with the next ranking regatta.

Update Oct29, 7:30 EET
Two weeks from now we would be driving up north for the season opening. But as always it all depends on conditions.
We now have relatively detailed forecasts for the period before and during the event. There will be ice but will it be enough and early enough remains a question mark. For the organizer it is rather easy task to follow: We have very good local contacts at Salla, Onkamojärvi and Onkamo will be the first place to have ice (high altitude and max distance from the Atlantic/Gulf stream).
All we can do now is wait and prepare the gear + tune the mindset for icesailing vibes and frequenzes. Organizing committee will announce the potential race venues and likelyhood to go/no-go latest on Wednesday, Nov11 evening.
Notice of Race published and registration is open
