Suomen Purjehdus ja Veneily piti viikonloppuna pääkokouksensa ja julkisti siinä yhteydessä vuoden valinnat. Vuoden luokkaliittona palkittiin Suomen DN Jääpursiliitto ry.
Palkinnon perusteluissa mainittiin liiton lisääntynyt aktiivisuus ja toiminnan tason nosto. Tällä viitattiin myös tulossa oleviin EM-kilpailuihin.
DN Finland was awarded by SPV (national sailing federation) for being the sailing class of the year. We are proud. The award was handed to our chairman/commodore Petri Pennanen.
It is less than two weeks until it is time pack the gear again! Race dates are Dec 7-8. Itsenäisyysregatta is part of the Finnish Keisari Ranking series.
Itsenäisyysregatta will be sailed to celebrate and honor our 107 years of independence. DN Finland welcomes the whole DN icesailing community and friends to join this celebration.
The actual independence day is Friday Dec6th and it is a day off in Finland. Many of the sailors will get together already on Thursday or Friday morning for a proper tune up and practice.
Legendary Week 46 gathered ice sailors from all over Europe to Onkamojärvi, Salla, Finland for the very first icesailing event of the season globally. In total 30 dn sailors and two ice optimist sailors plus 3 organizers enjoyed the spectacular scenery. We had participants from Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Sweden and Finland. Some sailors arrived already on Wednesday morning and managed to sail 4 awesome days.
Johnny Köhler Cup was sailed on Friday with 4 conducted races on almost perfect 15cm black ice. All Saint’s Regatta was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. However slow ice combined with very light winds did not give us an opportunity to sail on Sunday. On Saturday we did 6 races in rather wet conditions. Wednesday and Thursday were tune up and practice sailing all day – which is not very long at these latitudes… Nice thing was that our sailing days included almost all the different conditions with speeds exceeding 100km/h on Thursday and slower speeds during the weekend. We are sure that all the competitors also got to see more than enough reindeers wandering on the streets!
All Saints Regatta is part of Keisari Ranking. Keisari Ranking is supported by Nokian Panimo – a brewery that owns the beer brand Keisari.
We want to thank Onkamon Metsästysseura (the local hunting club) for letting us use the landing site facilities. Also big thanks for Jenni @Sallainen for all the hospitality and flexibility related to the accommodation arrangements.
Itsenäisyysregatta is in three weeks 7-8.12 and we hope we can get as big fleet as possible. We warmly welcome all our international guests to join. On Friday 6.12 is Finlands’ independence day so that is a holiday in Finland. Therefore Friday might gather a lot of sailors for practice and tune up. Whatsapp groups will be established for the registered sailors. Itsenäisyysregatta NoR and registration.
Location announcement with link to the accommodation information posted at the official notice board.
Week46 regattas will be sailed on Lake Onkamo, Salla unless something unexpected happens and we are forced to change the location. This is business as usual – you never know. However this time is exceptional. It is Sunday and we are confident enough and very happy and proud to post the official location announcement.
Please follow your e-mail. Organizing committee have sent an invitation link to the event Whatsapp groups directly to the registered sailors – to the e-mail address given in the registration details. Please don’t share or publish the invitation link. Joining the groups is strictly voluntary based. The WA groups will not replace the official notice board. All official announcements will be posted at the official notice board (manage2sail.com) and MAY be shared for convenience in the INFO WA group.
There will be two WA groups: “Week46/24 Event INFO” and “Week46/24 Open Stage”. INFO group will be used for one direction information only, from organizers to the sailors. Sailors are not able to send messages there. All participants can send messages in “Open Stage” group.
