The ice has not built as expected and there is no safe ice to sail in the targeted areas. Also the predicted wind is very light.
The return of the Saint’s: Holy Runners, November 22-23 is still on. We will monitor the progress closely and provide more information latest on Wednesday. The location announcement to be published latest on Thursday evening at 22:00 local time in Finland as defined in the Notice of Race.
There is a front coming over on Wed-Thu bringing extensive amounts of snow to the areas where we might possibly have ice. We see the probability to succeed way too low and will call the event off.
At the same time we are happy to announce that organizing activities for wk47 event will be started immediately. The temperatures are dropping day-by-day. There will be new ice forming on the south side of the expected snow fall area. Vaala/Painuanlahti might be a potential venue. Please be prepared for Johnny Köhler Cup on Friday Nov21 and an extra ranking regatta on Sat-Sun Nov22-23. Notice of Race to be published and registration opened early next week.

After an exceptionally warm autumn, the forecast finally shows freezing weather starting next weekend. We are not sure if it will be early and cold enough to enable week46 event to be raced. There is hope and fair chance. We are following the progress with a positive mind set. The primary options are Onkamojärvi@Salla and Jerisjärvi@Muonio.
As earlier announced, the possible cancellation will be called earliest on Sunday Nov 9th. Official location announcement to be published according to NoR latest on Wednesday 22:00.
Thanks to note that we do not have reserve dates for week46 event. Instead of that our national ranking rule allows and encourage to arrange extra ranking regattas – 2 per season. Nov 22-23 or 29-30 might be a good candidate to be considered if we’d miss week46 event this time.
Please note that it has been reported by the DN Sweden fleet that there is likely to be sailable ice in Sautusjärvi, Kiruna, Sweden. In case wk46 can not be sailed there will probably be sailors on ice. No big plans yet, but some kind of regatta might be arranged.
Petri, L53, has composed a post report of the Europeans sailed during week9 in Pyhäjärvi, Säkylä. The event was a success. 121 participants from 16 countries. All scheduled 12 starts were conducted by the GOLD fleet.
It is official! European Championship regatta will be sailed at Pyhäjärvi, Säkylä. Our base is Kristalliranta. Registration and measurements on Saturday. First race on Sunday Feb23. Last possible race day is Saturday Mar1.
Ennätysmäärä suomalaisia mukana DN jääpurjehduksen Euroopan Mestaruuskilpailuissa Suomessa!
20. vuoden tauon jälkeen Euroopan Mestaruus kilpailut purjehditaan Suomessa Säkylän Pyhäjärvellä, pääkallopaikkana Kristalliranta.
Kilpailuun ottaa osaa toista sataa jääpurjehtijaa noin 15 eri maasta, suomalaisia on ilmoittautunut 20 purjehtijaa. Kilpailut alkavat sunnuntaina avajaisilla klo 10.00 ja ensimmäinen kilpailulähtö klo 12.00.
DN Jääpurren nopeus nousee moottoritienopeuksiin, jääpurren purjehtivat 50 purren.

We are expecting record breaking fleet, yet again! Last year we had 62 participants which was an all time record. This year SM regatta will be just a week before the Europeans begin and the fleet might be even bigger.
Last weekend we had perfect conditions while we sailed HSK Ranking in Säkylä. Weather forecast until SM regatta looks very good and it is a possible venue for SM regatta as well.
